Wrapped yarn, also known as wrapped yarn, is a kind of yarn with new structure. It takes filament or short fiber as yarn core and wraps another kind of filament or short fiber yarn. The core yarn is covered by the outer yarn in a spiral way. It is characterized by evenness, fullness, smoothness, less hairiness, high strength and less broken ends. 

The coated yarn is mostly used in knitted fabrics with high elasticity, and partly used in woven fabrics. It is an ideal yarn for high-grade fine wool and linen fabrics, jacquard double-layer weft knitted fabrics and warp knitted fabrics. 

The coated yarn can be spun for both coarse and fine yarns, of which elastic yarn is the majority. It is suitable for weaving sports tights, such as swimsuits, ski suits, underwear, etc. According to the use of the coated yarn, the core yarn and the outer yarn are selected properly, and the strength of the covered yarn is higher than that of any single yarn. 

The difference between single layer covered yarn and double layer yarn 

The difference between single and double-layer covered yarn lies in the number of layers and the degree of wrapping.

Single coated yarn is a layer of nylon yarn wrapped in the outer layer of spandex yarn. Its biggest disadvantage is that the exposed core is more serious. In the process of subsequent processing, the exposed spandex yarn is easy to be worn by the machine parts and fracture; or when heated, it will turn yellow, sticky and strength decrease, resulting in different degrees of shrinkage. 

The double coated yarn is coated with two layers of nylon yarn on the outer layer of spandex, and the direction of these two layers of coating is opposite. The results show that the spandex core is well covered, and the bare phenomenon is light, and because the nylon filament is symmetrically wrapped with the opposite spiral angle. The elastic balance of the wrapped yarn is good, and it can be processed in the following process without setting treatment, but the processing cost of double coated yarn is higher. In actual production, the type of coating process should be selected according to the performance requirements, application, production technology level and cost price of the coated yarn.

Main technology

In the spinning process, the pre draft ratio of spandex is an important process parameter, which affects the elasticity of the coated yarn and fabric, as well as the strength and elongation, evenness and creep properties of the coated yarn. The pre draft ratio of spandex is too small, which can not give full play to the advantages of good elasticity of elastic fabric. When the draft is too high, it is difficult to spin, and it is easy to cause broken yarn, and the product quality will decline; in addition, the percentage content of spandex also affects the elasticity of the coated yarn, which is high content and good elasticity.

Difference from core spun yarn

The equipment for making core spun yarn and coated yarn is different. Core spun yarn is made on spinning frame, short fiber covered yarn is made on splicing and double twisting machine, and long fiber covered yarn is made on long fiber double twisting machine. 

The core yarn of the core yarn is wrapped by the fiber, and their core yarn is wrapped well. You can't see the core yarn. The process route of short fiber covered yarn is: one or more yarns are first spliced, and then the spinning drum is twisted and wound on a double twister. All yarns of this kind of wrapped yarn, i.e. core yarn and outer bread yarn, can be seen. 

Core spun yarn is usually spun on a spinning frame, in which the textile material to be wrapped is added when the roving is drawn. Such as cotton covered spandex; polyester, viscose coated spandex; cotton covered polyester filament; polyester wrapped polyester filament, etc. The wrapped yarn is actually a twisting machine, with one core yarn and the other winding outside. Such as spandex core yarn wrapped polyester, nylon, etc.
